On the edge of the Wisconsin River, among the glacier-carved sandstone formations is a very popular vacation spot called Wisconsin Dells. They have a very wide variety of attractions, some for every age and type of adventurer.
To begin with, Wisconsin Dells is a great place to see some of the splendor that Mother Nature has to offer. Perhaps you decide to start at the Cave of the Mounds, a natural limestone cave located just one hour away, which has been called the “Jewel Box of Wisconsin” by locals. Or maybe you’d rather start closer to your hotel, with a river boat tour for those who prefer a long, leisurely tour of the river’s sights and sounds. For those who want a little faster pace, jet boats offer a more thrilling, fast-paced way to see all the nature and wildlife at a much higher speed, which is perfect for younger adults who want the burst of adrenaline to help keep the tour entertaining. For those who would like to visit Wisconsin for camping, hiking and canoeing, the Mirror Lake State Park is a perfect attraction, just 15 minutes out of Wisconsin Dells.
For those who are interested in more man-made attractions, Wisconsin Dells still has a lot to offer. Its home to Ripley’s Believe it or Not ‘Odditorium’, a home to many exhibits of fun oddities and illusions, which can provide hours of entertainment for all age groups. It’s also home to the Dell Raceway Park, where spectators can go to watch races on their 1/3 mile paved race track. This attraction is always free to children 9 and under, and most weeks they have practices that are spectator friendly, quite often featuring older model cars. For those who like shopping and want to bring home some souvenirs Tanger Outlet Mall, called Outlet at the Dells, is a great place to start. It’s very centrally located and has a wide variety of stores to visit.
One last group of attractions is what makes Wisconsin Dells One of the most popular tourist destinations of the whole state of Wisconsin. That would be the Wisconsin Dells Waterpark Hotels. There is a wide variety of them, and they tend to be centrally located, requiring little travel to explore all the options. The area is very well known for the Kalahari Resort, which is home to a safari themed water park that can be used by anyone, even those who don’t elect to stay there. Simply pay for the day pass and explore both the water park and the theme park that the resort has to offer. Another popular one is the Wilderness Resort, which is famous for being rated as the best water park in the US by Trip Advisor. The only downside to this water park is that it is only available for guests to visit, so if you aren’t staying in that hotel, you won’t be able to get in. There are two others, Mt. Olympus Water Park and Noah’s Ark Water Park in the same area. Sometimes, hotels will offer tickets to these as perks for coming certain times of year, like the Alakai Hotel, which can help save money as you aspire to visit as many parks as possible.
